A Rebooting session in Pegasus 1st-2nd Dec 2011

Clock screamed...it was 16.00hrs on sultry Wednesday afternoon, and the team started taking their bags on, shutting down the system before activating out of office assistant in outlook.

One by one like a trained soldiers started walking towards the bus which was ready to ferry us from Goodrich to Pegasus.
The team headed towards the Pegasus Institute for excellence near Doddaballapur,  a two hour drive from the bustling city life.
We arrived around late in the evening, and was greeted by the staff of the institute guiding us to our respective cottages. After dumping our bagges, and with a quick fresh up, we all assembled in the hall named as "Ravi".

Mr. Giri briefed all of us what to expect in the next two days, and also do's and dont's, and informed us that next day by 8.30 we should be assemble in the same hall after the breakfast.

Evening we spent couple of hours near the camp fire taking the dinner, chit chatting with the group filled the required energy levels for the next two days of adrenalin flow.
Next day morning started with hot coffee, and session in the field playing Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, followed with refreshing bath, and breakfast.  We assembled in the hall, There is a say, when the students are ready, there comes the teacher.  Mr. DR Singh welcomed all of us, and created a template to introduce ourselves   to the whole team.  It was a wonderful thing to do, as lots of refreshing thoughts and goals came out.
We were ready for the action. The first activity Potting the marbles using the cut pipes in to the bottle had literally kicked off very well.  The group was split in to three, and all performed really well.  Then we came back to dissect the activity for a learning session.

This session proved that effective communication flows in an synchronized way can bring the desired results.
The learning session was simply amazing, and felt like our soul came out and talking to us about what we should do to improve ourselves to accomplish the desired goal set by the individuals.
The second activity wading out from a acid prone area to the safe shores using the resources in the form of drums, wooden plank. This activity demonstrated when we are facing the challenges, take calculated risk, and  decision to move ahead, and also demonstrated that the resources may lose in the middle but not the courage.

This session followed with mouth watering lunch, and then we headed towards the hall to have a blind fold game.
This game suggested that the effective communication with the people who are distant apart can bridge the game, and will bring positive vibes in the team members.

Evening after a quick chats, and play around, we ventured in to a night trek where in Mr.Murthy,  the supporting staff of Pegasus took us for a two hours marathon walk.  It was a wonderful experience of walking in the dark, and also helping each and every team members to complete the trek.

After a wonderful dinner near the camp fire, and chit chatting we were ready for the next day of  action, and went to bed in the hope of extra-ordinary events the next day.
Next day after the breakfast, we followed Murthy, and he took us to a beautiful location surrounded by lush green on all the sides.  The first activity was building the bridges to cross the islands.  This game is more relying on effective usage of available resource to see the project is on.

Lunch followed by one more equally interesting activity completing the cycle of numbers in tandem.  This signifies effective flow of process one after the other in sequence can bring glory.

After introspection on the previous activity, the team headed towards the last activity for the day, testing the prototype vehicle. This was the most fabulous action which stresses more on to become a good listener, and also a good recipient and transmitter of information.

We had requested a group photo with our inspirational commander Mr. DR Singh, and for our delight Mr. Giri also pitched in.  So the result was a memorable photo to share for our life.

After packing our back pack, when our tired limbs got in to the bus, our inner soul patted our back saying thank  you for bringing me in, and am in fully recharged mode.

It is nice way to reboot our life in Pegasus an institute for excellence.

Second Day of Action -02-Dec-2011 - Pegasus Institute for Excellence

Day of Entry can be found here..Day of entry
First day action available here...First day furry

To explain the experience gained over the previous days letters failed to come together...the alphabets says it can't be expressed in few words.

The concluding day had just opened up its wings to take us on a path of resurrection.

After a customary breakfast, Murthy from Pegasus informed us that, this time, the venue will be something different.   When all of us camped out there...it was in the lap of mother nature.  Green fields, chirping birds, cool breeze, and also sun beating hard all these made us to feel on a high pedestal.

Building the bridges

The three islands to be crossed using the two uneven Bally's (A bamboo sort of big stick), tiny ropes, and two bricks.
  • The first island is a stationery one, shows, to start any project, we should have firm belief, and firm base to launch it.
  • The second island is a floating one, reflects, opportunities will floating up and down, need to grab at the right moment to have perfect turn to the life.
  • The ropes indicates, need a binding force to wade through the challenges coming in our way.
  • The Bally is any thing but an uneven support available, always we can not expect same frequency members available for any projects, we need to bind it with a tiny ropes of confidence, and trust

The conditions for this activities were
  • The ropes, the bally should never touch the ground meaning, we should never lose hope on the resource available. If it touched the ground, it should go back to the starting point indicates, whenever there is a failure, go back, and restart with high hopes after plugging the gaps.
  • The floating island will be going up and down, but once a man sets his foot on it, every two minutes the island starts sinking, symbolises an opportunity in the hand,  if it is not used properly, and take it forward, opportunity will sink and also we will go with it.
Number game - Effective way of reaching the target
The numbers would be spread across on the floor in a random, the team with in a stipulated time, should stamp all the numbers in sequence.
  • The numbers are the process of any project.
  • Stamping the numbers in order is nothing but completion of one process after the other
  • Aim for completing the target is putting all the resource in best way.
  • When the individuals sets the target for themselves, always there could be enough reason to prevent us  from reaching the goal, but a target set for the team, all of the members pitch in to complete the target with effective communication.
The points that need to adhere for this activities were
  • No number should be stamped for more than one time, meaning the process should be in flow from one go..no rework, no re-look
  • If more than one individual stamping the different numbers at the same time, then it is a violation meaning if one person is on one process, and if it is not completed, then there is no point in starting the next process.
  • Numbers should be stamped in numerical order, if any number skipped, then it is a violation which implies that, process should be performed in a cyclic manner, we can not jump or skip one process to move ahead in the process.
  • This effectively signifies, effective training to individuals in the team by effective communication. And also check the understanding of the process, and bridge the gaps.
Testing the pro-type of vehicle

"A " frame need to be tested on a path with customer on it using the ropes tied all-round.
  • "A" frame depicts we were bound by a boundary
  • Ropes tied on all the four corners signifies the certain stages in our life relevant information will get communicated from the right corners.
  • It should complete the required laps to test the vehicle, which reflects any reason or season unless tested, can not be proved its worthiness.
The ground rule for this activity was
  • The frame should not be touched by the members, nor dragged on the ground means boundary should not get altered by way of adjusting to suit our convenience
  • The customer should not touch the rope, external agencies should not influence our decisions.
The lesson to be learnt when all the four ropes tied to the frame were pulled at one end, and released at the other end demonstrates that, one information is flowing in, we should be a good listeners to understand it properly, which is a symbolic way of effective communication.

First Day of Action -01-Dec-2011 - Pegasus Institute for Excellence

Day of Entry was a great start to the journey.

We all woke up at around 5AM, and had a long walk in the campus.  It was not a typical December chilling weather, instead it was a warm day break.  After fueling ourselves with hot coffee/tea, ventured in to the field for a warm up session by playing Cricket, volleyball, Basketball.  Came back to the pavilion, finished the day core activities, had a wonderful breakfast, and got in to the temple of rebooting.
Inspirational commander - Mr. DR Singh
There is a say, when student is ready, here comes the teacher.

Mr. D.R. Singh introductory note opened up the session.  All of us introduced ourselves one by one using a template designed by ourselves with inputs from Mr.DRS.  Each one of us had our own mission to complet, which was revealed by the individuals.

After the introduction, we were ready for the action. From here on am going to narrate what I learnt from the activity, instead of how the activity was performed which is a norm in my all previous blogs/postings.

Marble in the pipe line
The pipe, The marble, and the lessons!!!!
The marble had to be carried in the cut pipes to pot in to the half cut bottle.

  • The marble signifies the content.
  • The cut pipes indicates the mode of communication
  • The half cut bottle symbolises the recipient
The effective content by means of synchronised communication always reaches the recipient.  This was demonstrated by the team who one after the other holding the pipes to make sure the marble reaches the desired location.

The condition set by the moderator was marble should not role backwards, always it should move forward. This effectively conveys the message that, the communication should always move in a positive note, this will create a positive vibes on the recipient.

Drums, Wooden planks - To reach safe zone from the acid prone area.
Team on the project!!!
The acid prone area had to be crossed from the tentative safe zone to the safe zone by using available resources in the form of drums, and wooden planks.

  • Tentative safe zone indicates the situation we are in, it is safe but doesn't lost long
  • Acid prone area shows the challenges, the risks we need to take on the way to accomplish the desired goal.
  • Drums, Wooden planks makes us to understand that the stiff challenges always comes with resources to win the challenges.
  • Safe zone shows the goal we all aspire to reach for.
  • More than one member in the team shows always we can seek support from the surrounding to accomplish the dream.

In this activity to reach the safe zone there were few riders, only the bottom surface of the drum was coated with the anti corrosion substance, if the other surface comes in to contact with the acid prone area it will get corroded meaning the resource will get lost.  This symbolically expresses that the resource available will be reliable provided it will be put in to use in the best possible way.  But if the resource is lost, never lose the courage nor hope.  With positive attitude, the challenges and the resources can be utilised properly to reach our mission post.

Blind folded communication
Blindfold game!!!
Part of the team members will be blind folded, and remaining members will be the observes.  The blind folded members will be given few objects of different shape, size, and colour.  They need to work out, and inform the number of objects, colour, and shapes lying the moderator.

  • Blind fold is the situation where in we may not be in the best condition always to taken on the project.
  • Objects in different shapes, size, colour depicts the different tasks to perform
  • Finding the solution to arrive at the  number of objects left out demonstrates the effective communication to ensure that, the recipient who is not in our domain, understand the analysis.
  • The observes also should be on their toes, coz, life will not tell when will be their turn.

The conditions set here in was that,
  • each member can seek clarification from the moderator, which explains that, when in doubt always seek the help from the external source, and also if the moderator believes that if it can be clarified with in the team, he will keep mum with out answering the queries, this explains the member always should seek help from the team, only if it is beyond the team's reach, then he can stretch his hands for the help.
  • Neither they can give their objects to his team member, nor they should take it from the others.  This shows that we should never pass the buck to other, the projects which is entrusted to us, we should own it.

Night Trek - Pitch Dark
Mr. Murthy who is supporting staff for Pegasus took us for a night ride. It was highly advised that not to use the torch, unless it is really required, as the eyes can adjust to the conditions within a few minutes.  I learnt from this that, when the situation itself coming in our way to manage the task, we should not relay too much on the extra available resources .it will help for sure, but if it drains out, then will be handicapped. What a lesson to be learnt.
Ayyappa in lighting mode!!!! - My best shot so far!!!!

Team on a trekking mode
The night trek was a great fun, we had a beautiful outing on the hill.  Photo session followed, the leader for the trek Murthy really filled enough enthusiasm in all of us.

Concluding part in the next posting.

Pegasus - A place for ironing out the wrinkled thoughts - Day of Entry

From past few years I had heard & read lots and lots of fabulous reviews on Pegasus Institute,  a best place to reboot our lives with lively thoughts.  An opportunity from my employer rekindled the thought of rebooting my self.
Flying inspiration!!!!!!!!!
A group of Seventeen members stamped the land for excellence at around 20.00 Hrs on a warm Wednesday evening (30th November 2011).

A wast open lush green land peppered with few places to protect us from gushing winds, and sultry sun, vegetation all around welcomed us.  Fresh Air to breath, cool breeze to step out, a wonderful hospitality provided to us was beyond our imagination.
Path for excellence....!
After a quick fresh up, and a sipping hot coffee/Tea, I stepped in to a fine laundry palace to wash and straighten the wrinkled thoughts.  Mr. Giri briefed about what Pegasus all about, and what to expect in the next two days.  It was a warm session with all the ears wide open.  Slowly but surely my soul was getting ready for the overhauling required to reboot the life.
Knew the path infront but not the
goal...The workshop
A super dinner blended with an energy filled fire camp, where my soul started coming together with rest of the souls of the group.

Igniting the passion for excellence
A long chit chatting coupled with sprinkled photo session made me to feel the warm friendliness of soul mates all round.
Great souls in one frame

Blessing image in the fire
Went to bed around 23.30 to get prepared for the interesting two days of action and reaction.
Garrage for arresting our tired limbs!!!
To be continued for the second part of this sojourn to reignite the passionate thoughts!!!!

A Walk in Bangalore University Campus

Our own swamiji alias Arun ignited the passion of visiting university campus in mysore road in the wee hours of Saturday.  My heart said, why don't you try something new.
Giri with Arun in an compromising pose!!!!

Normally for me trip or trek means atleast we should travel 50Kms, this is very near to my house, so there was a toss between ekka, Raja, Rani.  Finally decided for Ekka...and my trusted lieutenant Sandeep pressed "Yes" button,  The smart guy with a twisted hair style, Giri too wanted to join us, so all of us dashed off from Indrapastha hotel in Vijayanagar to Bangalore university campus. So by 6.45 we were there in the campus.
Lake in the lush green surrounding!!!!

Walking in the drizzling, cold path in the Campus is a delight.  Our heart refused to believe that, there is exists a thick forest with in 5-7kms radius from the bustling vijayanagar.  But it is true, the thick vegetation welcomed us with both the hands.

We slowly walked towards the jungle path, there were innumerable sprinters practicing on the way. It is a crime to disturb them, but we walked on the edge of the path, so as to give enough room for them to sprint their way to the ticking clock.
An insect which we thought it as a cotton waste!!!!
It was a welcome break for all of us, in between, we continued our chatter box, which never stopped till we returned back to our home.  On the way, Vasudeva's Adiga refreshed our stomach with trade mark chutney with Dose, Vade.
Spider maaan...in his own "web" site!!!!

It was nice way to start the weekend.

Hasanaamba Temple - 22nd October 2011

As per the legend, the Sapthamaatrike's (Seven sister of Goddesses of Power), three of them found a place in Devigere - A Pond of Goddess in the heart of Hassan, one more form found a place in Kenchammana Hosakote near Hassan.  The rest of the three found a place in the form of Anthill or Hutta in a temple in Hassan.
Raja Gopura in construction
The legend goes saying the Hasaanamba temple is about 800 years old, and is dedicated to goddess Shakthi or Amba.  The main deity of the temple is that of Hassan.  The inner chamber of the temple is open for only two weeks, that is the first Thursday after a full  moon-day in the Ashwayuja Maasa (roughly in October-November) just before Deepavali, and will be closed on the last day of the Deepavali, that is Bhalipaadyami.

The goddess is in the form of ant-hill or hutta which resembles the deity of Hassanaamba as goddess Parvathi.  When the temple remains closed, water, bags of uncooked rice, a lit lamp and flowers are kept in front of the goddess.  It is believed that when the temple is opened the next year, the rice remain the same, and so is the lamp which constantly burns.  The notable point in this temple is, once closed, the temple complex is fully airtight, there is no chance of either air or light getting inside the main temple.
Siddeshwara Temple

Next to the Hasanaamba temple complex there is exists a temple for the lord Shiva.  Here the idol is said to be Udbhava Shiva in the form of Kiratha (Beda - Hunter), and also Arjuna, one of  the famous brothers of Pandavas. It is believed that a story in mahabharatha that, Arjuna wanted to get Paashupatastra - An arrow which he wanted to use in the battle of Kuruskshetra to win for the pandavaas. Lord shiva, test Arjuna in disguise of Kiratha - The hunter, both shoots the arrow to one pig, and fight for the claim in a forest.  Finally seeing the dedication, and also the fighting spirit of Arjuna, the lord Shiva gives the Astra - The weapon which Arjuna was looking for.

In this temple, there exists a statue of Ravana playing Rudra Veena, but surprising factor is that it has nine heads instead of ten heads.  Even though not sure the real reason, but the statue looks very impressive.
Ravana with 9 heads!!!!

As I had grown listening to the legendary stories about this temple, the desire of visiting the temple grew with in me from the ages, since it will be opened only during Deepavali, so far i didn't get enough time to visit this temple.
The temple

During last few years due to this yellow journalism from the media moguls, this temple shot to fame.  Even though there was descent crowd visiting this temple all these years, the popularity brought out by the media resulted in bringing the people in lakhs during a week to ten days mela.
